Every desktop or notebook or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software that communicates with the computer hardware, including peripheral devices such as a mouse or a printer, as well as any applications that are installed on the system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a web server, each app runs within the parameters established by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etcetera. This is valid for both standard site scripts and server-side software such as a media server. When a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two different Operating Systems, named guest OS and host OS, so you'll be able to set up a different software environment on the very same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

In case you decide to purchase one of our VPS server packages, you will be able to pick one of the three Linux releases that we offer for the Operating System of the servers - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They're among the most preferred and most dependable server OSs on the market and we offer them so that you have a choice for the software environment of your machine if you wish to install some app with particular requirements in terms of the packages that must be present on the web hosting server. We also offer three hosting Control Panels and which one of them you may use depends on the OS that you've chosen. We leave the option to replace the server Operating System open, so if you want to use software that requires an OS different from the one you already have, we can always re-install the VPS. We can also keep the OS up-to-date weekly by installing all the security updates which may be available.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

In case you decide to get one of our dedicated servers, you'll find three Operating Systems on the order page since we want to give you a larger choice for the system environment on your machine as different applications could have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian contain different modules developed by their large support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and benefit from a reliable and secure web hosting service. Based on your choice, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Of course, we can always change the Operating System in case the one you've selected initially does not meet the requirements of the software which you want to run. We can also update the OS regularly to keep it as risk-free as possible using our Managed Services upgrade package.
