An access log is a text file containing an extensive list of all of the files accessed by your site visitors. All of the files which were requested in one way or another will be included, so when you have a PHP script app and a site visitor opens just the home page, for example, you may find a lot of files inside the log. This is because there are elements on the home page which are embedded - parts of other Internet pages, pics, etcetera. These files shall be listed within the access log, so that you can get a detailed picture of the way your site functions. The info is in plain text format, so the logs are occasionally termed "raw data" too. An access log provides the name of each and every requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, plus the user’s IP address, browser and Operating System. More information, including the referrer website, is sometimes provided as well. A log file could be processed by various desktop programs for statistical purposes as an addition to the web stats provided by your web server.

Access Log Manager in Website Hosting

Our in-house built Hepsia CP includes a section focused on various logs and the access logs are one of them. Once you sign in to your website hosting account and navigate to this section, you will find a list of all the domains and subdomains that you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to press a button that will be available next to each and every domain/subdomain. If the option is active, you'll see a download link and also the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your personal computer and look at it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect instantaneously, so if you no longer require one, you can stop it with a mouse click from the very same section of the CP. You'll still have the ability to access the already created content by simply clicking the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our sophisticated hosting platform shall create access logs for any Internet site hosted inside a semi-dedicated server account, as long as this feature is activated. All domains and subdomains that you have will be listed in the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia Control Panel, which we offer with all the accounts, so if you would like our system to start producing logs for each of them, you should simply click on the small button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and change the default Off option to On. You can disable this feature at any time by following exactly the same steps. You will find a Download link for each log inside the exact same section of the CP, so you can save the content gathered by our system in .txt format with only a click. An existing log file could be downloaded even after the function has been deactivated, so you'll still be able to view the data which has already been generated.
